Hot, Cold, or “Just Right”?

What temperature do you keep your thermostat set? We often get into conversations while out with friends and we get a wide range of answers.

Our thermostat is currently set at 74. To some of you that may be cold, others, too warm. As I’m home most of the day, I can adjust it as needed. If I’m cooking or cleaning, it may go down a degree. In the evening while settling in, we may put it up a degree. We do prefer it cooler when we sleep, and since our bedrooms are on the second level, it seems to be a little warmer up there. We do have ceiling fans running as well.

In the winter months, we keep it at 67 or 68 during the day and turn it down to 62 at night while sleeping. In the morning, we have it go up to 67. Now with all the programmable thermostats, it’s easy to program even while being away!

What is “just right” for you? I would love to hear your comments!

Tips for staying cool: Use tabletop or floor fans. You can also use the fan on your furnace to keep the air circulating. Close the vents on the main level so that your upstairs gets most of the cool air. Keep your shades or blinds pulled low to avoid that hot afternoon sun. Sip on cool beverages. Take some doTERRA peppermint oil and rub on back of neck and forehead. You can also do a little sponge bath with water and peppermint and wash your arms and legs for a great cooling effect! You can also add peppermint to a spray bottle filled with water and mist yourself while you are inside or out doors!

If you have pets, make sure they are staying cool as well. Keep their water bowls fresh and filled. Be careful when walking when the temps get too hot. Go for shorter walks or walk in the morning or later in the evening.

Tips for warming up: Dress in layers. Stay active and moving. Vacuum! (This one is for my family) Drink warm beverages. You can get a warming effect on your body by rubbing doTERRA unscented lotion combined with ginger, cinnamon, cedarwood, sandalwood oil. You can add ginger and lemon to warm water and drink. Go for a walk outside and get your circulation pumping!
