Immune System….what is that?

Now is the time of year to start (if you haven’t already) boosting up your immune system! I’ve got some ideas for you and I want to share how you can do that.

You’ve heard a lot about your “immune system”. What exactly is it comprised of?

The immune system and lymphatic system work closely together to protect the body from harmful pathogens and disease. These systems include white blood cells, bone marrow, the spleen, tonsils, adenoids, appendix, thymus, lymph and lymph nodes. A healthy immune response consists of the body’s ability to properly identify a pathogen and engage in a series of responses designed to prevent pathogens from entering targeted cell/tissues.

Certain lifestyle choices can either provide great strength or can seriously weaken the immune response. Nutrition is a key factor in a healthy immune system. If cells don’t have the energy they need to provide critical safeguards for the body, pathogens can more easily penetrate and multiply. Detoxification is another critical activity that helps promote the body’s natural defenses; many times when we get sick, it’s simply the body’s way to naturally eliminate toxins.

Natural essential oils, which have a chemical and carbon footprint compatible with the human body, have the ability to help the immune system bring itself to balance because they are soluble in fat and can penetrate the cell membrane. Viruses are also soluble in fat. Most pure essential oils (doTERRA) are naturally drawn to the inside of the cell to help the body get rid of threats within the cell. Be careful which oil you use, because adulterated oils are limited in support it can provide to your body.
